The Clinic Operations Manager reports to the Assistant Director of Clinic Operations and works alongside the Department of Pediatrics Chair’s Office and other department leadership to support the clinical mission for the various divisions within the Department of Pediatrics. The incumbent will be responsible for template creation and clinical reporting for Divisional Chiefs, department administration, and individual providers within the Department of Pediatrics. The incumbent will assist with the establishment and modifications of scheduling protocols within Epic, monitoring of clinical templates, and problem-solving clinical scheduling issues for providers and divisions as they arise. They will be responsible for managing dashboards created both internally and within Epic to provide the individual monitoring of department targets and RVU goals for providers within the department. The incumbent will also be responsible for the creation and maintenance of regular analytical reports designed to monitor clinical operations and inform leadership of operational performance.  Independently carries out projects and analyses for divisions to achieve their clinical, research, and education missions while utilizing university, college, and department data systems.

The Biomedical Informatics Program (BMI) is hosted within the Department of Health Outcomes and Biomedical Informatics (HOBI) and is closely affiliated with the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI). It engages in a broad spectrum of informatics research and service initiatives across the University of Florida (UF). These services include building the informatics infrastructure for the OneFlorida Clinical Research Network. BMI is responsible for establishing and maintaining the software, infrastructure, and data management processes required for all these networks. Recently, leveraging a $50 million hardware (i.e., HiPerGator AI cluster–top 20 worldwide with 140 NVIDIA SuperPODs and 1,120 A100 GPUs) from NVIDIA, we created GatorTron and GatorTronGPT—the largest clinical large language models (LLMs) trained with all UF Health patients’ clinical notes. This position will work under the guidance of Dr. Xing He, in collaboration with a team of data scientists, clinicians, bioinformaticians and computer scientists to fulfill the research and service missions of the BMI program, especially for NLP projects. You will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining innovative software applications that utilize the capabilities of natural language processing (NLP) and LLMs to enhance healthcare outcomes and biomedical informatics. Your contributions will directly influence patient care, clinical decision-making, and medical research. Responsibilities: 1. Natural Language Processing (NLP): Leverage NLP techniques to process and analyze unstructured text data, such as clinical notes and medical literature. Apply state-of-the-art NLP algorithms to extract valuable insights from textual data, leading to improved patient outcomes and enhanced healthcare services. 2. Integration of Large Language Models (LLMs): Utilize LLMs to build intelligent applications capable of understanding, generating, and responding to natural language inputs. Integrate these language models into healthcare applications to enhance their capabilities and provide intelligent user interactions. 3. Collaborative Projects: Work closely with healthcare professionals, researchers, and informatics experts to understand their requirements and collaborate on projects that address critical challenges in healthcare data analysis, decision support, and knowledge management. 4. Data Security and Compliance: Ensure that all software applications adhere to strict data security and privacy regulations, especially when handling sensitive patient information and medical records. 5. Testing and Quality Assurance: Conduct rigorous testing of developed applications to ensure their accuracy, reliability, and performance. Implement effective quality assurance processes to maintain high standards throughout the development lifecycle. 6. Documentation and Training: Create comprehensive documentation for the developed applications, including technical specifications and user manuals. Provide training sessions to end-users, enabling them to effectively utilize and benefit from the software tools. 7.
