Job Description:

The Director of Development Administration for Family & Campus Development will lead central advancement efforts to secure private support for university-wide priorities. As a central fundraiser, the director will work with donors who have multiple areas of philanthropic interest and giving histories. Additionally, the Director will manage the Leadership Annual Giving (LAG) Program including the hiring, onboarding, and management of all LAG team members. Reporting to the Executive Director of Advancement, the Director will play a key leadership role within the Family & Campus Development team to increase giving as well as donor and talent pipeline through the LAG program. The Director’s portfolio as well as the LAG program’s impact will include donors with varying interests, they will work collaboratively with development officers across the entire UF Advancement organization.

Portfolio Management

  • Responsible for identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift prospects with a focus on university priorities.
  • Focus on individual prospects and work with leadership, corporate and foundation prospects where gift is assessed at $100,000 and above.
  • Maintain a portfolio of fundraising prospects and strategically manage relationships utilizing a strategic moves management approach to yield maximum philanthropic support in a timely manner.
  • Properly handle gifts and pledges made to the University.
  • Develop and present concept papers and gift proposals and acknowledge and recognize gifts in ways that are meaningful to donors and appropriate to the vision, mission, and values of UF.

Leadership Annual Giving Program Oversight

  • Lead the Leadership Annual Giving Program to include partnership with unit leaders and teams to maximize donor pipeline.
  • Provide oversight and management for all Assistant Directors LAG through reviewing cultivation/solicitation strategies and increasing the effectiveness of all development activities.
  • Lead the hiring, interviewing, onboarding, and ongoing talent management of all LAG team members.
  • Increase major gift referrals by Assistant Directors LAG ensuring new major gift prospects are identified and properly transitioned to the unit.
  • Partner with unit leads to assign LAG liaisons to units as well as maintain relationship with unit leads to enhance collaboration.
  • Manage all performance documents and annual reviews for LAG team members.
  • Work closely with Prospect Strategy and Research team as well as Annual Giving Data team to ensure LAG portfolios include region and unit-specific assignments.

Strategic Leadership & Management

  • Build relationships with key university stakeholders, including senior leaders, UF Foundation Board Members, parents and family members of UF students, etc. to identify opportunities to increase giving.
  • Lead the effort to grow and increase the visibility as well as success of the Leadership Annual Giving Program.
  • Partner with Annual Giving and Alumni Relations Teams to increase major gift pipeline and LAG opportunities.
  • Partner with Donor Relations to ensure a strategic and donor-centric stewardship plan is in place to thank and recognize scholarship donors appropriately.
  • Build a strong working relationship with Estate and Gift Planning as well as other central Advancement units.

Communications

  • Assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive communications plan to inform constituents and identified markets about the mission, vision, and values of the units, their funding priorities, and gift opportunities.
  • Serve as a storyteller, responsible for crafting inspiring, compelling stories to demonstrate donor impact.
  • Assist with writing the content for proposals, development brochures, case statements, as needed.

Expected Salary:

$105,000-115,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree in appropriate area of specialization and three years of appropriate experience in Development or a related field; or a bachelor’s degree in appropriate areas of specialization and five years of experience in Development or a related field.

Preferred:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Three to five years of major gift fundraising experience with documented success in cultivating and soliciting major gifts of $100,000 and above from individual and corporate prospects with campaign experience.
  • Prior experience in a college or university setting, enthusiasm for fundraising in a comprehensive research university, and the desire to work collegially within a goal-oriented fundraising organization.
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles, methods, and standards.
  • Expertise in developing solicitation strategies.
  • Competency in problem solving.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and the capacity to engage effectively and collaboratively with a wide range of individuals are essential.
