| Job Description: |
The College of Dentistry is seeking a Health Information Specialist to manage the lifecycle of dental records, from active maintenance through secure retention and disposal of inactive files.
- Creating duplicate records for various purposes (continued care, insurance processing, legal issues, and personal reasons). Fulfilling record requests and ensuring compliance via mail, fax, and email
- Answering the telephone in Dental Records, addressing issues from patients and staff members.
- Operating the switchboard as needed to route calls to the appropriate clinics or departments
- Staffing the Patient Services desk (as needed), registering new patients, and checking in returning patients.
- Additional duties as assigned.

| Expected Salary: |
$16.76 - $17.00 per hour; commensurate with education and experience

| Required Qualifications: |
Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT); or a high school diploma or equivalent and three years of relevant experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

| Preferred: |
- Experience using Outlook and axiUm (or a similar system)
- Familiarity with Excel, Word, and GlobalSCAPE
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) a plus
- Computer skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently, orally, electronically, and in writing with prospective patients and co-workers.
- Ability to climb, reaching above shoulder height, kneeling, bending and repetitive pushing or pulling.
