Job Description:

About the Role

As a trusted partner to faculty and research teams, you will orchestrate end‑to‑end proposal development—from opportunity scouting and team coordination to structure, budgeting guidance, and submission readiness. You’ll ensure contributors are aligned on roles and timelines, elevate proposal quality, and help position HWCOE for success in signature, high‑visibility funding programs.

Essential Duties:

Organize & Manage Proposal Writing Teams and Efforts

  • Advise Principal Investigator(s) on strategies to craft competitive, high‑quality proposals.
  • Review and interpret sponsor guidelines and requirements for compliance and fit.
  • Coordinate and facilitate proposal team meetings.
  • Build proposal timelines and assign responsibilities across investigators and contributors.
  • Compile, write, and/or edit proposal content (especially institutional data and standard descriptions).
  • Coordinate the end‑to‑end submission process, ensuring timely approvals and all required documents.

Develop & Maintain Proposal Writing Tools and Templates

  • Create, organize, and curate proposal resources and templates for HWCOE faculty and staff.
  • Identify and document institutional, state, and national resources that strengthen submissions.
  • Maintain a vetted network of grant writers, graphic designers, and proposal coordinators available to support HWCOE teams.

Opportunity & Team Identification and Analysis

  • Track key, signature programs (e.g., NSF Engineering Research Center, Materials Research Science and Engineering Centers) and ensure HWCOE has engaged teams actively pursuing these opportunities.
  • Stay abreast of new funding and collaboration opportunities and surface them proactively to faculty and leadership.

Other Duties as Assigned

  • Provide flexible, high‑quality support for related research development initiatives as needed.

Expected Salary:

$58,000-$68,000; commensurate with qualifications and experience

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred:

Experience

  • College degree and multiple years of experience as a proposal manager, grant writer, or research strategist.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills; proven ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects with minimal supervision.
  • Meticulous accuracy, attention to detail, and a customer service–oriented mindset.
