Candidates for Assistant Professor shall hold the highest degree appropriate to their field or possess equivalent qualifications based on professional experience. A candidate shall be expected to demonstrate successful experience pertinent to the position they are being recommended and have demonstrated qualities relevant to the goals of the academic unit in which they will be employed. 

Candidates for Associate Professor shall hold the highest degree appropriate to their field or possess professional qualifications above those equivalent to the highest degree relevant to their field. They are expected to have produced creative work, professional writing, or research and successful teaching or professional experience. A candidate for this rank must have a distinguished record of achievement beyond the assistant professor level. 

The College of Education at the University of Florida seeks a 9-month assistant or associate tenure-track faculty with expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) in education. This position will be part of the Educational Technology or Research and Evaluation Methodology academic program and UF’s Institute for Advanced Learning Technologies.

The faculty member will join a dynamic community of scholars and engage in collaborative work with colleagues across UF and beyond, including but not limited to: the AI² Center, the UF Artificial Intelligence and Informatics Research Institute, Computer & Information Science &  Engineering, Digital Worlds Institute, UF Libraries, McKnight Brain Institute, Neuroscience, Psychology/Cognitive Sciences, Florida Museum of Natural History, Harn Museum of Art and UF Online.

Potential areas of expertise and scholarship include:

• Generative AI in teaching and learning
• AI and professional learning
• AI and educational assessment
• AI literacy for learning and instruction across formal and informal education contexts
• AI for inclusive and accessible education
• AI ethics and policy
• Other innovative areas of inquiry related to AI and other emerging learning technologies

Responsibilities:

• Conduct scholarly activities commensurate with expectations of tenure-track faculty at an AAU research-intensive university
• Vigorously pursue external funding to enhance research and development
• Publish in respected refereed scholarly journals salient to the candidate’s line of research
• Present research at national and international conferences
• Advise, engage, and mentor graduate students in research and teaching activities
• Teach courses (face-to-face, blended, and/or online)
• Provide service to the program, school, college, university, and the profession

• Record of scholarship as demonstrated through publications and presentations at national conferences (commensurate with experience)
