Apply now Job no: 541782
Work type: Post Doc Associate
Location: Main Campus (Gainesville, FL)
Categories: Biology/Life Science, Grant or Research Administration
Department:29180200 - MD-NEUROLOGY-EPILEPSY

Classification Title:

Postdoctoral Associate

Classification Minimum Requirements:

PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Neuroscience, Computer Science, Psychology, or closely related field Demonstrated MEG analysis experience (FieldTrip/Brainstorm/MNE-Python or similar)

Job Description:

The Magnetoencephalography (MEG) Lab at the University of Florida (UF) is seeking two highly motivated postdoctoral researchers to join our interdisciplinary research team. The positions are supported by NIH and other funded projects investigating clinically important questions in epilepsy and Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (AD/ADRD).

The two postdoctoral researchers will focus on complementary areas:

  • Multimodal Language Mapping in Epilepsy
This position will focus on improving prediction of language outcomes following epilepsy surgery through integration of noninvasive neuroimaging, including MEG, fMRI, and diffusion MRI (DWI/DTI), with invasive language-mapping approaches such as electrical stimulation mapping (ESM). The project provides opportunities to develop and validate computational approaches for multimodal brain mapping and clinically relevant prediction of surgical outcomes in patients with epilepsy and brain tumors.
  • Multimodal Neuroimaging and Biomarkers in AD/ADRD                                                                        This position will focus on integrating MEG with multimodal neuroimaging, including structural MRI, fMRI, diffusion MRI, and PET, to advance biomarker discovery and mechanistic understanding of neural dysfunction in Alzheimer’s disease, Lewy body disease, and related dementias. Opportunities include advanced signal processing, brain connectivity and network analyses, multimodal data integration, and machine-learning/AI approaches.

Both postdoctoral researchers will have opportunities to lead analyses, develop new computational and neuroimaging methods, collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical and research teams, contribute to grant applications, and develop independent research directions aligned with their career goals.

Research Environment and Career Development

The positions offer substantial opportunities for scientific and professional development, including individualized mentorship in grant writing, development of independent research projects, and career-focused funding applications such as NIH K awards. Postdoctoral researchers will also be supported in presenting their work at major national and international scientific conferences.

The UF MEG Laboratory research environment provides access to state-of-the-art neuroimaging and computational infrastructure, including a whole-head MEG system, two 3T MRI scanners, PET/CT imaging, clinical and research neurophysiology/neuroimaging resources, and extensive patient populations and clinical collaborations. Researchers also have access to UF HiPerGator, one of the largest university high-performance computing environments in the United States, with large-scale CPU and GPU resources for advanced neuroimaging, machine-learning, and AI workflows.

These are full-time, funded postdoctoral appointments with multi-year support.
