The PCW ward is a part of our Emergency & Critical Care department operating as a “stable” patient and post-op ward ward and an isolation ward for the ICU area. The ECC dept. is one of the largest in the world consisting of VTS (ECC) technicians, board-certified criticalists, emergency clinicians, residents and interns, and over 70 veterinary technicians and technician assistants not to mention the client services team that supports the service 24/7. The service collaborates with 16 other specialties within the small animal hospital including internal medicine, integrative medicine, diagnostic imaging, surgery, neurology, and oncology; providing 24/7 patient care for all hospitalized patients. The hospital is also supported by a full diagnostic reference laboratory, an impressive veterinary pharmacy support team, and a canine/feline blood bank staffed by a VTS-ECC technician.
