The Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology is seeking a full-time Laboratory Technician II in the laboratory of Dr. Laura Ranum. General mouse colony maintenance: in collaboration with the Principal Investigator and other team members. This position includes the organization, maintenance, and breeding of mice (husbandry, setting up mating cages, weaning pups, tail snips and monitoring health concerns). The successful candidate will perform genotyping experiments using established laboratory techniques and enter resulting data into a lab database. The candidate will assist in the application and assessment of molecular therapeutic approaches in various mouse models. The candidate will also assist in the maintenance of compliance documents, perform routine record keeping, ordering and inventory. It is expected that the person in this position will work closely with the PI, senior research staff and the lab manager but will be able to perform duties and experiments with limited supervision from the PI.
