There are opportunities for rotations in the Thoracic and Vascular Units on a rotational basis with your colleagues. Your primary clinical mission is provide critical care for the Cardiac Surgery patients. UF Health is a major referral Center for Complex Cardiac Surgery for the SouthEast including aneurysms, dissections, minimally invasive and transcatheter valves etc. The team is supported with excellent mid-level providers and residents as part of the Hospital Critical Care Organization. In addition, if you wish you can participate in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation patient cannulation and coverage (ECMO) Surgical/operative time, research opportunities and educational focus are all negotiable.
Specific educational duties include medical student and resident education rotating on your service. You will also be expected to assist with the teaching of surgical residents through the level-specific, didactic curriculum and medical students through the 3rd year rotation small group sessions. Finally, you will also participate in the training of the Surgical Critical Care, Acute Care Surgery and TCV fellows, as well as all Critical Care Fellows that rotate through your ICU/s.
