Job Description:
  • Project Coordination and Management
    Lead the coordination and management of research and extension projects to ensure objectives, timelines, and deliverables are met efficiently. Primary focus areas include camera trapping projects aimed at engaging private landowners, and research into white-tailed deer damage to agricultural crops. This role also involves logistical and editorial support for Fire University, a podcast dedicated to fire ecology and management, including scheduling, content planning, and coordination with guests.
  • Science Communication and Stakeholder Engagement
    Support and implement science communication and outreach strategies. This includes developing and distributing stakeholder surveys for growers participating in the deer crop predation study, as well as managing content and updates for the lab’s social media channels and website. Collaborate on creating accessible, impactful materials for both public and academic audiences.
  • Personnel Supervision and Oversight
    Supervise undergraduate and graduate student researchers and other lab personnel to maintain high-quality research and outreach outputs. Ensure project staff are aligned with lab goals and deadlines, particularly in areas related to fire ecology, wild turkey conservation, and broader wildlife extension initiatives.
  • Data and Documentation Compliance
    Ensure that all research data, project materials, and required documentation are maintained with a high standard of accuracy and completeness. All outputs must comply with institutional policies and funding agency requirements, including data management plans, ethical considerations, and reporting standards.
  • Laboratory and Field Safety
    Ensure the safety and compliance of all research and lab operations. This includes maintaining up-to-date safety documentation, particularly related to hazardous waste disposal and field safety protocols during research activities such as prescribed burns.
  • Liaison and Partnership Development
    Act as a liaison among research sponsors, stakeholder organizations, and internal university collaborators. Focus areas include projects in white-tailed deer management, fire ecology, and rare plant conservation. Collaborate with UF/IFAS Extension personnel and external partners to enhance the reach and impact of research and extension programs. Will need to drive to various research areas.
  • Record Retention and Reporting
    Maintain organized records of project activities, data, and communications. Assist in preparing final reports and archiving materials post-project completion, ensuring information is accessible for future reference or audits. Other duties as assigned.
Expected Salary:

 $45,027.84 at 32 hours per week.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Valid driver's license

Preferred:
  1. Experience in research coordination, extension/outreach programming, or project management.
  2. Strong communication skills, especially with stakeholder groups.
  3. Knowledge of research compliance, data handling, and safety practices.
  4. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail.
