The School of Theatre and Dance (SoTD) seeks a federal work study colleague to join the SOTD team as a Student Assistant. The SoTD Student Assistant will collaborate closely with the Assistant to the SoTD Director in completing required duties and assigned projects. Student-employees who hold this position often serve as a first point of contact for the public, guests, prospective and incoming students, SoTD faculty & staff. In addition to providing coverage of the SoTD reception area, our new colleague will assist the SoTD Company Manager with tasks to help maintain the classroom studios, office areas, and other SoTD spaces. This may include things such as checking and adjusting inventory in studios, checking for maintenance issues, assisting with projects as needed, and filling out reports about the status of the building areas. The student assistant may assist the Company Manager to prepare for SoTD events such as the Young Dancers Workshop, BFA Auditions (acting and dance), Spotlight, Ric Rose Award, and potential retirement events during the Student Assistant’s normally scheduled hours. There may also be some out of normal hours events that require assistance.

Duties include, but not limited to:
- Greet all visitors to SoTD Reception Area, aiding guests when needed.
- Courier documents and small packages between SoTD and COTA offices.
- Review/sign for packages (i.e., UPS, FedEx), sort incoming mail, assist in processing outgoing mail.
- Compile mailings and recruitment packets, as requested by the Assistant to the Director.
- Manage printing, scanning, and assist with copier/printer concerns and questions.
- Reply to and direct calls, addressing inquiries appropriately.
- Assist in distributing coupons for SoTD productions.
- Contribute to team efforts in generating programs for each SoTD production.
- Oversee cleanliness of the administrative offices, studio-classrooms, and common spaces to provide minor cleaning and alert Assistant to the director of cleaning needs.
- Maintain various supply levels of office supplies and coordinate with Assistant to the Director to place orders of needed supplies.
- Set up for events and workshops.
- Maintain the classroom studios by completing inventory checks.
- Assisting the Company Manager during events and workshops.
- Other general duties as assigned.

Preferred: |
- Highly preferred working hours: Mondays 11am - 5pm, Tuesdays 11am – 1pm, Wednesdays, 11am – 1pm, Thursdays 11am – 1pm, and Fridays 11am – 1pm
- Experience in Secretarial, clerical, and/or customer service.
- Microsoft Office Suite programs
- Effective communication skills
- Evidence of organizational ability and diligence
- Evidence of success in promoting an environment that advances pluralism, curiosity, viewpoint diversity, open discourse, and the well-being of all.
