Classification Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Description:
  • Oversee the daily operations of UF’s Tallahassee Government Relations office, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings, coordinating travel, preparing briefing materials, and reconciling expenses.
  • Plan and execute major events such as Gator Day, as well as support events in Gainesville, Washington, DC, and other locations.
  • Host UF contingents—including administrators, trustees, faculty, students, and others—during visits to Tallahassee, serving as a primary point of contact and coordinating visit logistics, including transportation when needed.
  • Coordinate UF’s Tallahassee Internship Program in partnership with the Bob Graham Center, including intern recruitment, orientation, and professional development activities.
  • Track legislative activity by monitoring bills, calendars, hearings, and committee meetings, maintaining accurate records, and distributing timely updates and materials to UF leadership and stakeholders.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for the office, handling correspondence, managing constituent requests, and maintaining organized filing systems.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and comfort with digital communication/graphic design platforms (Constant Contact, Canva).
  • Ability to exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality, and work effectively with high-level stakeholders.
  • Flexibility to support events and meetings outside of standard office hours as needed.
Preferred:
  • Experience in event planning, executive support, or legislative/government relations settings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with diverse groups of stakeholders, including senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and anticipate needs in a fast-paced work environment.
