The College of Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida, a pre-eminent research institution, is seeking highly experienced and detail-oriented Accountant II to join our dynamic Business Office team. CJC Financial Hub - UF College of Journalism and Communications This pivotal role will provide advanced financial oversight and operational support to the Division of Media Properties (DMP), contributing to the college's culture of financial integrity, accountability, and excellence.

As the Accountant II, you will leverage your deep expertise in financial analysis, budget management, and compliance to ensure accurate and efficient financial operations across the college. Partnering closely with the DMP sales teams, you will manage billing, invoicing, accounts receivable, and deposits, while also overseeing accounts payable to uphold strict adherence to UF procurement policies and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and maintain the QuickBooks General Ledger system for the Division of Media Properties and related programs, ensuring compliance with University policies and accounting standards.
  • Manage billing, invoices, accounts receivable, collections, and provide financial reporting support to sales teams; process membership contributions and ACH deposits.
  • Administer accounts payable for DMP entities, ensuring timely payments and assisting suppliers with vendor registration and updates.
  • Verify and reconcile underwriting and membership-related deposits with the UF Foundation to ensure accurate and timely processing.
  • Perform additional finance-related duties as assigned to support Business Office operations.

Expected Salary:

Annual: $62,500 - $67,500

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of experience.

Preferred:
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and standard financial practices
  • Experience using QuickBooks or similar financial tracking/accounting software
  • Familiarity with University of Florida fiscal policies and procedures is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work activities, including classifying and recording financial transactions accurately
  • Ability to interpret and follow complex written and verbal instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and proven ability to maintain a chart of accounts and prepare financial documents with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Team-oriented approach with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced, multifaceted department
