The Department of Health Outcomes and Bioinformatics at the University of Florida, College of Medicine, is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher with a focus in Cognitive Informatics, Human Systems/Human Computer Interaction, and/or Human Factors in healthcare. Candidates should have a working knowledge of human cognition, human computer interaction, human systems integration, and quantitative research methods. Some experience with qualitative methods or an interest in learning about these methods will be beneficial.
This position will work under the guidance of and in collaboration with Dr. Jessica Ray. The lab is currently focused on two broad areas of work 1) human centered design for clinical decision support systems with an increasing focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI) based systems, and 2) tailored approaches to user centered health information technology. The lab incorporates methods ranging from eye-tracking measures of attention and cognitive workload to qualitative methods for user centered design and cognitive task analysis. Through multiple collaborations we are increasingly involved in studying human-AI interaction as well.
The position will require collaboration with faculty, staff, and students across UF, UF College of Medicine, and collaborative partnerships with colleagues at other universities. Candidates should be ambitious, organized, eager to learn, independent, yet work well with a team.
Duties Include:
Develop models of user attention and cognitive workload during interactions with health information technology using eye-tracking technology
Use mixed methods approaches to explore decision processes of users and implications for health information technology advancement including user interactions with Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies
Participate in collaborative projects, contribute to data processing/analysis for ongoing projects supporting the overall goals of the lab, contribute ideas for new projects and other collaborative efforts.
Participate in design, implementation, and reporting of new research studies. Contributions to manuscripts, conference submissions and presentations, and grant reporting is expected. This includes documentation of methods, presentation of data, and interpretation of results.
