Responsible for administrative and management functions for Campus Events & Traditions, Student Government Advising and Operations, and student programming & events.
• Supervise, train and evaluate staff for Campus Events & Traditions, Student Government Advising and Operations, and student programming areas establishing work priorities and workflow; developing strategic goals relevant to the area, and providing general direction and leadership for goal accomplishment
• Create, guide and implement long and short term strategic plans for student engagement, leadership and service, and student programming aligning with the educational mission, values, and goals of the University of Florida and the Division of Student Life.• Develop, utilize, and analyze assessments, research and service delivery to inform or support management decisions and ensure integration into operational processes
• Develop and manage departmental budget, including daily budget management, approval of expenditures, and the development of the annual budget proposal
• Interpret and ensure compliance with appropriate policies and guidelines related to students, student organizations, campus events or spaces, event permits, catering, and other resources
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, ADA, and other relevant regulations
• Formulate and implement policies and procedures related to areas of oversight
• Develop and implement comprehensive risk strategies related to areas of responsibility
• Ensure effective collaboration with university departments, academic units, community partners, and other campus venues
• Responsible for assisting in the management of the contracting process for student organization events, departmental programs, equipment rentals and performer contracts (e.g. contract negotiation, preparation, and management)
• Serve as primary contact for major events and large-scale programming for events (e.g. Homecoming/
Gator Growl)
• Serve as the leader for management of crises related to student organization events or specific student groups when appropriate and collaborate with other departments as needed.
Provide direction to the operations and administration of the Student Government.
•Assist in planning and oversight of $6M+ budget.
•Assist and advise the $20M+ Activity & Service Fee allocation process as well as the Organization budget hearings in excess of $1M.
•Directs the efforts of and supervises office staff, sets performance standards and accountability.
•Manage auxiliary services and provide direction for retail units, including Bike Repair, statewide conferences, and the Graphics & Copy Center.
•Develop and implement office mission and strategic planning
•Responsible for developing and maintaining partnerships throughout the university. Oversees communications, promotions, and public relations for the office in order to achieve goals and objectives.
•Directs the long-range strategic planning, operations, and/or administrative activities of the Office.
•Directs the public records request process related to requests received by the University of Florida related to Student Government.
Provide management and oversight for selected student programming, including Student Welcome Programming.
• Advise designated student organizations providing support related to Signature Events, programming, promotion, fiscal management, event management, risk management and general operations
• Responsible for developing initiatives and programs regarding leadership development, event management, risk management, prevention of hazing, sexual violence, alcohol and other drugs
• Serve as resource for reporting incidents in accordance with appropriate University guidelines (e.g. Title IX)
• Develop and implement a strategic plan for student success and engagement ensuring alignment with Division of Student Life goals and integrating assessments and evaluations that should be used to inform or support management decisions throughout the Office.
• Provide oversight for strategic outreach and engagement opportunities (e.g. preview, weeks of welcome, open house)
• Responsible for oversight of training, operation, and management of student staff and volunteers for programming and outreach initiatives (e.g. Student Engagement Ambassadors, GatorNights student staff)
• Serve as lead for student welcome events for the Division of Student Life (Great Gator Welcome)
• Develop and implement programming strategy to create a dynamic and exciting welcome experience for Summer B, Fall, and Spring semesters.
• Incorporate student life staff and students to develop, execute, and assess welcome programming.
Develop reports, handle special projects, and other duties as assigned. Please note this position is designated as essential and is subject to the university's procedures and guidelines for essential personnel.
Contributes to the division and university through active participation on committees and division-wide initiatives (example opportunities: emergency dean on call, event support team, conduct committee, student welcome events, etc).
