Biological Scientist II

• Field and Greenhouse Research 

  • Execute planting activities and manage plant care in field and greenhouse settings.
  • Monitor plant health, conduct trait measurements, and coordinate data collection.
  • Drive to field and greenhouse sites as required.

• Molecular Biology and Plant Tissue Culture 

  • Perform nucleic acid purification, PCR, protein purification, construct design, and sequencing.
  • Establish and maintain plant tissue cultures.
  • Optimize protocols through literature reviews and ensure experiment accuracy.

• Lab Administration 

  • Manage lab inventory, order supplies, and maintain equipment.
  • Implement safety and quality control procedures.
  • Maintain detailed administrative documentation.

• Training 

  • Train and oversee undergraduate and graduate students, technicians, and visiting scientists.

$46,000-$50,000 based on education and experience.

• Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field with three years of experience, or
• Master’s degree in biology or related field with one year of relevant experience.

• Experience with tropical fruit crops, advanced molecular techniques, or plant breeding.
