The OPS Laboratory Research Technician position is open in the UF IFAS Crop Transformation Center (https://croptransformation.ifas.ufl.edu/). This position is primarily a research-oriented position. The primary focus will be research, as well as assisting in daily research laboratory operations, and will be assigned on a daily basis. Research responsibility includes recombinant DNA transformation technology, plant tissue culture, and plant transformation. The ability to maintain detailed records of experiments is essential for this position. Training will be provided on-site, but prior laboratory training is a plus.

Additional duties include attending lab meetings, performing routine lab procedures, basic laboratory maintenance, preparing stock buffer solutions, maintaining laboratory stocks and equipment, and organizing supplies, as needed.

The person in this position is expected to work at least 20 hours per week, with flexibility in scheduling, as agreed upon at hiring.

$18 per hour

Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or a similar relevant field.

Basic laboratory skills and plant tissue culture.
