The Opportunity
The Student Health Care Center (SHCC) at the University of Florida is seeking an End User Computing Specialist I to join our team. The End User Computing Specialist I supports computer users by configuring and troubleshooting desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, desktop telephony, and related peripherals. This position assists with network connectivity, initial system access, and provides direct support to resolve hardware and software problems. The specialist ensures users have the tools and access they need to complete their work and escalates complex issues when necessary. This position focuses on providing responsive, customer-centered service to help maintain end-user productivity.
The essential functions of the End User Computing Specialist I are:
- Accepts and logs support calls, provides first-level research and resolution and refers to second-level support when higher technical skills are required to resolve the issue. Telephone and onsite support for network, desktops, laptops and all mobile devices--software and hardware. Some of these systems may be offsite; transportation is provided.
- Provide support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, telecommunications, and other end user equipment. Connect devices to local and wireless networks and configure them to meet organizational requirements. Perform routine updates, test configurations, and document all steps to ensure repeatability. Work closely with team members to support large deployments or scheduled upgrades.
- Facilitate new user accounts and user terminations. Assist users with initial login, file access, and standard software configuration based on assigned roles. Respond to support requests for sign-in problems, permissions, and navigation of frequently used systems. Guide users through first-time setup and verify proper function before closing support requests.
- Assist in the implementation of IT related initiatives (OS deployments and divisional relocations, etc.
- Establish direct communication with manufacturers to repair and replace products under warranty.
- Record support tasks, resolutions, and device inventory in the assigned ticketing and asset management systems. Tag and track issued devices, keeping records up to date. Ensure accurate documentation to support future troubleshooting and audits.
Typical Schedule:
Required to work Monday-Friday 7:00 AM-4:00 PM, with possible variations totaling 40 hours/week.
