| Job Description: |
Construction Project Supervision: Work with contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors to ensure work is completed in a timely manner and within budget. This includes scheduling contractors across multiple projects appropriately to maintain completion goals and College priorities. Provide continuance inspections and guidance to contractors to ensure all projects comply with the construction documents, UF construction standards and applicable building codes. Works closely with design professionals through the construction phase to coordinate compliance with construction documents, including any necessary Requests for Information and change orders. The lead position will supervise more complex projects that require multiple contractors, permitting, and/or outside design professionals.
Project Planning: Coordinate with end users, contractors, DFO/ADFO, and design teams to develop project scopes of work and budgets in a design-build setting. Assists DFO/ADFO in development of project budget estimates and in collecting information to develop in-house construction drawings. Work with contractors to accurately quote project scopes.
Coordination with other UF units: This position will work and coordinate with Facilities Services and EHS to ensure projects are compliant. This position will attend plan review meetings with Facilities Services and coordinate changes and comments with design team and contractors. This position will work with EHS Building Codes to coordinate design updates with design team and contractors, as necessary. For HWCOE permitted projects, this position will coordinate with EHS, Facilities Services, and contractors to schedule construction projects inspections. For other projects, the supervisor will ensure that contractors are completing required inspections. Position will identify maintenance needs and submit Work Orders with UF Facilities Services, as necessary. They will coordinate work with FS and follow up on status of work orders. Position will coordinate with Facilities Services, other UF Units, and contractors to complete projects that are not done through the work order system. Position will also need to occasionally coordinate activities with various UF units that may include EHS Hazardous Waste Management, Animal Services, UF Surplus, UF Mail Services, and UF high performance teams.
Assist departments, faculty, staff, and students in troubleshooting issues with facilities and equipment. Advise whether solutions will require the creation of a Project or Work Order.

$73,000-$83,000;commensurate with education and experience

| Required Qualifications: |
Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, planning or building construction or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
|
| Preferred: |
- Background and advanced knowledge of building mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Including troubleshooting common issues and breakdowns. Person must be able to communicate issues and provide guidance to maintenance staff and outside contractors. Experience in design-build setting.
- Experience with various industrial machinery and equipment, setup, and minor maintenance.
- Able to recognize and identify various equipment and machinery.
- Experience working with common hand tools and power tools.
- Able to work independently, plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
- Able to read and understand construction documents and specifications for all construction divisions including architecture, electrical, mechanical, life safety, and structural.
- Understanding and experience working with and interpreting building codes and regulations.
- Able to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and vendors both verbally and in written communications.
- Able to train and instruct individuals regarding safe laboratory and construction site practices.
HAZMAT Training. Position will require various hazardous materials training within first 6 months of employment.
- Calibration and use of precision measuring devices.
- Ability to work in a potentially stressful environment.
- Experience with Microsoft suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Should be comfortable working with and learning various online software applications, including on mobile devices and tablets.
