Job Description:

The Assistant Director of Academics & Faculty Affairs provides strategic and operational leadership for essential academic and faculty‑related functions within the College of Nursing. Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean of Academic Programs and the Executive Associate Dean, this role is integral to ensuring the effective delivery, coordination, and continuous improvement of academic programs, faculty workload management, faculty advancement processes, and instructional operations.
Serving as a key liaison among faculty, academic leadership, and administrative units, the Assistant Director ensures that academic policies, processes, and infrastructure operate efficiently, consistently, and in alignment with college and university priorities. This position supports a collaborative academic environment that enables faculty success and promotes high‑quality educational experiences for students.

Academic Support Services 
-Provide operational oversight and coordination of academic support services that support instructional delivery, clinical assignments, and academic programs.
-Coordinate academic operations across all College of Nursing programs, including overseeing the implementation and effective use of related technology.
-Coordinate, with the Senior Associate Dean and Executive Associate Dean, academic scheduling for courses and clinical experiences to support efficient use of faculty, facilities, and clinical resources.
-Support curriculum implementation, course delivery logistics and instructional resource allocation.
-Collaborate with faculty, program directors, and academic leadership to ensure consistent academic processes and compliance with institutional policies.
-Identify opportunities to improve academic operational workflows and instructional support systems.
-Serve as a resource for faculty and staff on academic policies, procedures and timelines.


Faculty Affairs
- Provide administrative and operational leadership for faculty affairs processes.
- Coordinate promotion and tenure processes in accordance with college and university policies and timelines.
- Provide procedural guidance and ensure administrative support for faculty, committees, and academic leadership.
- Maintain documentation, records, and reporting related to faculty appointments, reviews, and advancement.
- Support faculty affairs initiatives in collaboration with the Executive Associate Dean and institutional partners.
- Identify opportunities to enhance clarity, efficiency, and consistency in faculty affairs processes.


Clinical Placements
- Oversee operational processes related to clinical placements.
- Coordinate systems and processes supporting clinical placement administration across programs.
- Ensure alignment of clinical placements with accreditation, programmatic, and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a liaison between clinical partners, program leadership, and internal academic operations.
- Lead continuous improvement of clinical placement processes.
Teaching Assistants and Instructional Staffing Needs (10%)
- Coordinate processes related to teaching assistants and instructional support roles.
- Collaborate with faculty and academic leadership on TA workload expectations and instructional support needs.
- Evaluate TA performance and provide feedback and guidance as needed.
- Ensure compliance with institutional guidelines, appointment processes, and reporting requirements.
- Support continuous improvement of TA utilization and instructional staffing models.
Workload Reporting & Academic Compliance (10%)
- Coordinate FAR and effort reporting processes for faculty and instructional staff.
- Ensure accuracy, timeliness and compliance with institutional, state and federal requirements.
- Work collaboratively with faculty, finance, grants administration and leadership to resolve reporting issues.
- Develop documentation, tracking tools and guidance to support transparent and compliant reporting practices.


Leadership 
- Supervise and mentor direct reports, fostering a high-performing and collaborative team environment
- Provide clear guidance, set performance expectations, and evaluate staff contributions to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Identify professional development opportunities to enhance staff competencies and improve operational effectiveness.

Expected Salary:

$85,000-$95,000

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience.

Preferred:

• Progressively responsible experience in academic administration, faculty affairs and higher education operations.
• Experience in health sciences or nursing academic environment.
• Experience supporting clinical education programs or academic scheduling.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex processes across multiple stakeholders.
• Familiarity with faculty appointment, promotion and tenure, and effort reporting processes.
• Proficiency in TAMS, EXXAT and other academic software.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
