Bachelor’s degree in biology, neuroscience, biomedical sciences, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Description:

Conduct Molecular and Cellular Biology Experiments

  • Perform RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, microscopy, and cell culture experiments. Maintain accurate experimental records and assist with data organization.

Animal Model and Physiological Studies

  • Assist with rodent handling, behavioral testing (e.g., anxiety-like behavior assays), airway mechanics assessments, tissue collection, and processing. Ensure compliance with IACUC protocols and animal care guidelines.

Laboratory Operations and Maintenance

  • Maintain laboratory inventory, prepare reagents, order supplies, coordinate equipment maintenance, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Training and Technical Support

  • Assist in training students and new laboratory personnel in laboratory techniques and standard operating procedures. Provide technical troubleshooting support for experiments. 

This position will work an average 30 hours per week, Monday - Friday, between 8:00am - 5:00pm. Some flexibility may be required depending on experimental deadlines, including occasional early morning and/or late afternoon animal procedures. No regular on-call duties. 

Expected Salary:

$28.00 / hourly

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in biology, neuroscience, biomedical sciences, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred:

-Master’s degree in related field and/or prior experience in molecular biology, histology, rodent behavioral assays, airway physiology, or cell culture.

-Experience working in an academic biomedical research laboratory preferred.

-Experience with basic laboratory techniques.
