Job Description:

IT Management, Planning, and Project Management

  • Serves as advisor to the dean, collaborating with administrative, academic and clinical leaders to translate business priorities into actionable technology plans. Provides subject matter expertise at UFCD Deans & Chairs Meetings, IT Advisory Committee, IT Project Meeting and other workgroups as needed. Provides oversight for IT related issues for data collection and reporting including required accreditation documentation.
  • Provides oversight for Information Security Risk Requests and Assessments. This task requires detailed knowledge of computer security methods, research into security features of new products, and creative problem solving to assure both policy compliance and functionality.
  • Functions as subject matter expert for AxiUm (electronic health record). This includes ensuring operational efficiency, oversight of upgrades, management of system access control, process improvement and reporting.
  • Plan, organize, and oversee technology projects – from the initial idea through final testing, deployment, and ongoing support. Develop project proposals and project documents to initiate new software and technology projects. Responsible for monitoring work efforts, identifying resource needs, performing quality review, and troubleshooting issues appropriately.

Architecture and Design of Software and Data Systems

  • Implement and develop processes, policies, best practices and resources to elevate IT efficiency, and compliance. Provide communications/updates to college on relevant IT topics.
  • Research tools and techniques to meet the college IT needs. The incumbent must be able to independently identify the need for tools and acquire or create them. The work requires broad knowledge of IT services, research skills, and creative problem solving. Stay current on emerging hardware, digital, and software technologies, proactively evaluating and integrating relevant advances.
  • Responsible for the management and development of equipment and technology budgets for projects. This includes oversight of evaluation, and installation. Oversight of software and technology acquisitions to ensure that the needs of the college are met without duplication of software. Ensures that all software is properly licensed and approved for the college.

Technology Liaison and Cross‑Departmental Collaboration

  • Acts as liaison between the college, UF IT, Academic Health Center IT/UF Health IT and other units of the university on technology matters and issues. Foster collaborative partnerships, resolve cross‑departmental issues, and promote institutional alignment.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred:
  • Masters Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or like field.
  • Previous experience in Academic Health Center working with Electronic Health Records.
  • Previous experience with dental clinical enterprise including digital workflows within dental education.
  • Previous experience with AxiUm (EHR).
  • Demonstrated IT Project Management experience including new applications/software/technology implementation/deployment.
