Job Description:

Research, Monitoring & Analysis:

  • Conduct weekly scans of county websites, agendas, news articles and public records to identify potential high/medium/low signals for UF/IFAS Extension.
  • Maintain and update the 67‑county inventory and data repository.
  • Assist in preparing summaries of findings for the ABI Team and Extension County leadership.

Content Development & Communications Support:

  • Draft county‑specific and statewide assets such as one‑pagers, briefs, FAQs, talking points and packets.
  • Contribute to messaging development for Extension value, ROI and county‑specific priorities.
  • Assist with rapid‑response communication tasks when significant county signals are identified.
  • Help ensure content aligns with UF/IFAS branding, voice and accessibility standards.

Digital Organization & Workflow Management:

  • Support creation, organization and maintenance of SharePoint repositories and digital toolkits.
  • Assist in preparing end‑of‑summer documentation, templates and handoff deliverables for the fall 2026 campaign cycle.
  • Upload, label and organize files to support version control and statewide distribution.

Team Collaboration:

  • Participate in weekly cohort check‑ins, trainings and collaborative work sessions.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to project workflow and documentation.

Expected Salary:

$18/hour

Required Qualifications:
  • Education: Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student at the University of Florida, preferably in communications, public relations, journalism, political science or related fields.
  • Experience: Strong written communication skills. Ability to conduct structured online research and summarize findings clearly. Detail-oriented, reliable and able to manage multiple tasks with guidance.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, effective communication, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Experience with Microsoft Office tools Co-Pilot, SharePoint, Teams, Excel, Word and OneDrive.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student at the University of Florida with coursework or internship experience in communications, public relations, journalism, political science or related fields.
  • Experience writing briefs, fact sheets, reports or public-facing communications.
  • Familiarity with UF/IFAS Extension or county government operations.
  • Ability to analyze trends and identify early indicators of potential issues.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Co-Pilot, SharePoint, Teams, Excel, Word and OneDrive.
  • Interest in community engagement or strategic messaging.
Special Instructions to Applicants:

Expected commitment is 20 hours per week over the 12-week period of May 18, 2026 through August 14, 2026.

Typical Schedule is 20 hours during Tuesday-Friday, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Occasional adjustments may be required based on project needs. This position is in-person, without a remote work option at the ABI Offices at the Straughn IFAS Extension Professional Development Center in Gainesville, Florida.
