Join the University of Florida's Applied Physiology & Kinesiology (APK) team as an Academic Advisor II and help shape the educational journey of our diverse student community. Based on our beautiful Main Campus in Gainesville, Florida, you'll work directly with students to support their academic success and personal growth.

About the Opportunity

As an Academic Advisor II, you'll serve as a trusted guide for students navigating their academic path, working predominantly with prehealth students. You'll provide comprehensive advising services, helping students make informed decisions about their coursework, career planning, career goals, and university resources. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on student success while working in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide academic advising to predominantly prehealth undergraduate students, through individual appointments and Zoom drop-in sessions
  • Assist students with degree planning, course selection, career planning, and graduation requirements
  • Monitor student progress and identify early intervention opportunities
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and campus partners to support student success initiatives
  • Maintain accurate student records and documentation in university systems (e.g. maintaining accurate and detailed advising notes)
  • Participate in orientation programs, workshops, and outreach activities
What We're Looking For
  • Master's degree preferred, bachelor's degree required
  • Experience in academic advising, student services, or higher education
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to working with students from diverse backgrounds and experiences
  • Knowledge of degree requirements, university policies, and academic resources
  • Proficiency with student information systems and technology platforms

Expected Salary:

$55,000-$58,000 

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree in education, counseling, or academic field related to the college and one year of relevant experience OR Bachelor’s degree in similar fields with two years of relevant experience.
