Classification Minimum Requirements:

Must be a currently enrolled University of Florida undergraduate student who qualifies as a needy student (as defined by financial aid standards), enrolled in credit hours with a minimum GPA of 3.5

Job Description:
  • Draft, submit, and revise IRB applications with guidance from the Community Intervention Research Coordinator
  • Manage Dr. Tucker’s weekly and daily meeting schedules, including calendar coordination and updates
  • Compose and respond to emails on behalf of Dr. Tucker with professionalism and clarity
  • Coordinate and participate in CDRC Co-PI meetings:
    • Draft meeting agendas
    • Take and present detailed notes
    • Stay informed about Co-PI projects and IRB processes
  • Assist with research and writing projects using CDRC data:
    • Review data analysis reports with Dr. Kirsten Klein and/or Dr. Tucker
    • Conduct literature searches as needed
  • Lead the coordination of the Student Research Writing Team and provide regular updates to Dr. Klein and Dr. Tucker
  • Attend and assist with tasks from the following meetings for learning and administrative support:
    • Administrative Research Team meetings
    • CDRC monthly meetings
    • MHC weekly meetings
    • Co-PI monthly meetings
    • Occasional research and administrative meetings
  • Use Dr. Tucker’s CV to update:
    • NIH Biosketch
    • Other Support documents
    • Annual Activities Report
  • Proofread research and grant documents upon request
  • Assist with research grant writing as needed
  • Support Ms. Rui Zou (Administrative Research Manager) when time allows
  • Participate in approved community research activities with Dr. Tucker’s consent

 

Final Written Assignment:

At the end of the position term, the Student Research Assistant is required to submit a written report or presentation summarizing their experience working and learning from Tucker’s lab. This final reflection should include:

  • A summary of responsibilities and major activities
  • Reflections on key learnings and skill development
  • Notable accomplishments or contributions
Expected Salary:

$14/hour

Required Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled University of Florida undergraduate student who qualifies as a needy student under financial aid standards

  • Enrolled in credit hours with a minimum GPA of 3.5

  • Able to work up to 20 hours per week in a hybrid setting (in-person three days per week)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft professional correspondence and research documents

  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail

Preferred:

 

  • Major or strong interest in public health, psychology, health disparities, or community-engaged research

  • Prior experience with research activities, including literature reviews or IRB submissions

  • Familiarity with NIH biosketches, Other Support documents, or grant preparation

  • Experience with academic writing, proofreading, or student team coordination

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced research environment

  • Able to commit to two years of service in the role
