Job Description:

The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering (HWCOE) at the University of Florida is soliciting applications for a full-time, twelve-month, time-limited, non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Research Assistant Scientist in the Machine Learning and Sensing Lab.

The principal duties and responsibilities assigned to this position are to assist the Director of the Machine Learning and Sensing Lab in development of an AI research program, mentoring students and supporting additional lab management and operations tasks as needed.  This position will conduct cutting-edge research focused on developing algorithms and AI approaches for a wide array of research applications and tasks. This position will facilitate the engineering and development of AI tools for use by UF faculty, staff, students, collaborators and others through funded research efforts.  This position will participate and facilitate in proposal development and resource sharing. This position will work with the Director of the Machine Learning and Sensing Lab to identify and pursue a range of federal, state, local and philanthropic funding opportunities, and prepare materials required for successful applications for such opportunities.

Expected Salary:

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Required Qualifications:

PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning or a closely related field.

Preferred:

Prior research lab management experience; Successful research publication experience in venues for AI/Machine Learning/Computer Science/Data Science/other related fields; >5 years of python programming experience; Experience with standard AI libraries; Prior proposal development experience.
