The College of Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida is seeking a talented IT Generalist II to join our Technology Advancement Group (TAG).  Our TAG Team is leading the way in media technology and supporting cutting‑edge broadcast operations within a vibrant academic setting. Our Technology Advancement Group (TAG) plays a vital role in researching, designing, and implementing state-of-the-art technology solutions that advance the college’s mission. This position is designated as “Essential” in accordance with UF policy.

Contribute to Exceptional Learning Experiences

As an IT Generalist II, you'll collaborate with a dynamic team to implement the daily and strategic development, operation, and maintenance of systems:

  • Design and implement all installations and provide maintenance and support of all integrated computing tools as listed above for the College of Journalism and Communications, including its affiliated Media Properties and the Innovation News Center
  • Provide discretion, judgment, and decision-making on all matters related to information technology and UF policies
  • Maintain Servers and related operating software including VMWare
  • Manage Desktop operating systems including Windows OS, Macintosh OS, and Linux
  • Install and manage Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, SPSS, and newsroom operating/management systems
  • Provide endpoint management platforms such as SCCM and JAMF
  • Coordinate hardware and software specific to the communications industries and required by faculty, staff, and students in the College, Centers, and Media Properties
  • Troubleshoot and direct the implementation, training, and operation of all software
  • Communicate effectively and responsively to all faculty, staff, and students in the College

Expected Salary:

Commensurate with Education and Experience

Minimum Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent
  • IT field-related certifications
  • Knowledge and experience of VMware, Windows OS, and hardware, Macintosh OS and hardware, and knowledge of PC network communications
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of Radio and Television infrastructure and concepts
  • Willingness to be on call 24/7/365.
