| Job Description: |
The Maintenance Superintendent is an integral part of the Department of Recreational Sports staff and reports to the Associate Director for Operations, Member Services, and Indoor Maintenance. This position supervises the maintenance of building systems within the Southwest Recreation Complex, the Center for Outdoor Recreation, and the Student Recreation and Fitness Center. This includes scheduling preventative maintenance, working with maintenance contractors, and coordinating with UF Facilities Services. This position supervises four full-time positions, is responsible for the fiscal oversight of the maintenance budget, and will serve to support the vision, goals, and objectives set forth for the unit. The Maintenance Superintendent will collaborate with both internal and external groups as needed to complete the job responsibilities and support the Department of Recreational Sports.
Unit Management:
- Coordinate and oversee maintenance workflow and prioritization, including routine tasks, inspections, work orders, special projects, equipment delivery and installation, and facility system-related emergency responses
- Perform and/or supervise preventive maintenance to preserve appearance and function to all facility equipment to include air handlers, chillers, pumps, boilers, and associated monitoring equipment; Digitally document scheduled maintenance to be performed on department inventory items. Serve as the primary liaison to UF Facility Services.
- Evaluate equipment needs and develop equipment replacement plans.
- Manage cleaning schedules and collaborate with UF Facility Services regarding custodial tasks and projects within RecSports buildings.
- Enforce University and department policies, procedures, and regulations.
- In tandem with Associate Director, collaborate with other units within RecSports and on campus to develop and enhance relevant services.
- Recruit, train, supervise, coach, mentor and evaluate full-time and student staff within the Maintenance unit, assign daily tasks, and inspect completed work orders.
- Plan and facilitate regular staff meetings and training sessions including awareness and compliance with all University policies and procedures.
- Assist with the development of training manuals and materials including safety and risk management practices to meet national standards and University policy.
Financial & Administrative:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive budget for the Maintenance unit; monitor budgets throughout the year and assist with quarterly reporting.
- Maintain proper inventory records; assess and analyze data associated with maintenance needs.
- Prepare and manage bi-weekly payroll and wage schedules and reports.
- Ensure Risk Management & Safety protocol are utilized appropriately within all assigned responsibilities.
- Communicate with vendors, installers, and site-superintendents regarding special projects; coordinate work timelines and manage quotes/invoices for successful project completion.
- Provides feedback to supervisor regarding the safety and/or condition of programs, equipment and facilities; conducts daily observations and/or use said equipment and facilities; immediately documents and addresses all safety concerns.
- Operates state vehicles in the performance of job duties.

$60,000 - $65,000

| Required Qualifications: |
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

| Preferred: |
Three years of experience in maintenance in a collegiate or municipal setting; ability to work with minimal supervision, to think critically and to undertake initiatives; ability to effectively supervise; and is self-motivated, adaptable, a great team player and customer focused.
