The position provides Business Affairs Departments with Information Technology based support and application programming expertise. The position will be responsible for the development, deployment, reporting, and oversight of department server systems as well as assisting with the management and coordination of application system specifications. These applications and systems consist of multiple Building Automation System Servers, Campus Energy Analytics Software, Industrial Process Control Systems, GIS and various other department software packages. Responsible for assisting the IT Manager in efforts to create and maintain centralized UF IT security policies, standards, and procedures. The position will also be responsible for assisting department personal with enterprise risk assessments as they arise.
Software Application and Hardware System Support - The position's responsibilities also include assisting the management and troubleshooting of various department servers and industrial control system applications. This includes ensuring all applications, databases, and operating systems are updated, patched and backed-up. The position will also serve as the department's backup point of contact between the department, application vendors, and the university's centralized Information Technology groups. The position will interface with university IT staff and department end-users to resolve issues involving university level IT policy, standards, requirements, and procedures as they pertain to industrial and low voltage automation systems.
Software Programming/Development- Utilizing the department's software applications and data sources, the position will be responsible for learning the various programming protocols and languages. These functions will require database administration experience in MySQL and MSSQL, as well as programming and scripting experience with languages such as PHP, PowerShell, Axon, Python, JavaScript, etc.
Mobile Device Management - Utilizing the University’s software applications and data sources, the position will be responsible for daily support of iPhones and iPads using iTunes and UF’s Jamf cloud enterprise application.
IT Equipment System Management - The position will assist and be responsible for the management and tracking of all industrial control embedded and specialized devices and tools connected to the UF network. This includes coordination of IP address assignments and application protocol addressing, etc.
Valid Florida Driver’s license required at time of appointment.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE:
- Normal work schedule: Monday through Friday, 08:00 am to 05:00 pm.
- Flexibility to adjust work schedule is required to meet department demand of occasional evening or weekend work (including emergency situations) to ensure business operations are functioning optimally during extended hours. Emergency situations may include computer or server failures, application issues, or other IT-related problems.
- This position is an after-hours on-call position.
- This position is considered essential personnel in the event of an emergency campus closure.
