| The Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases at UF Health is recruiting a full-time Biobank & Research Coordinator (Clinical Research Coordinator I) to coordinate biomarker collection, especially blood draws, at the Fixel Institute. The coordinator will consent patients for biomarker banking, collect data, collect samples, process samples, store samples, and ship samples.
The coordinator will be phlebotomy certified or trained and will regularly draw blood and collect data for banking into the UF Human Brain Tissue Bank. The coordinator will administer a variety of clinical questionnaires, prepare and provide sample kits, ensure sample receipt, tracking, and subsequent delivery, enter results into a database, and ensure compliance of banking protocols and satisfactory care of enrolled patients. The coordinator will also assist other clinical research coordinators by helping with collection of biosamples, including phlebotomy, for their studies.
Responsibilities may expand as new studies or biobanking initiatives develop. Training will be provided for specialized biobanking procedures and UF-specific systems.
We are looking for someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, communicates well with other leaders, grows their skills, and can work independently.
At the Fixel Institute, collaboration fuels discovery. Every sample reflects a patient’s trust, and your work will help turn those contributions into research that advances care for people with complex neurological diseases.
The position is responsible to the Fixel Institute’s Data Lab Manager and Directors, with training and leadership from the director of the Fixel Biomarker program, Dr. Nikolaus McFarland, and the Assistant Director of Clinical Trials, Julie Segura.
The incumbent will collaborate with study coordinators, physicians, nurses and other key personnel in the clinic at the Fixel Institute to accomplish the above duties |
