DIGITAL WORLDS INSTITUTE: Digital Worlds Institute (DW) is an interdisciplinary institute that offers academic and research programs at the intersection of the arts, communications, and technology. Founded in 2001 as a partnership between the College of the Arts and the College of Engineering, DW has grown its initiatives across additional units including the Colleges of Education, Journalism & Communications, and the Health Sciences. Job Description:
  • Lecture and facilitate course topics and materials for DIG3873, Game System Development I.   
  • Create and maintain a positive and engaging online learning environment.
  • Provide supplemental learning content as needed to enhance student understanding. (e.g., video feedback, additional reinforcement of lecture videos, etc.)
  • Develop and assess student assignments, providing timely and constructive feedback on student work. 
  • Monitor and respond to student inquiries and discussions on the online course platform. 
  • Adhere to the course schedule, stay updated with industry trends and advancements in digital production and design techniques to enhance course content and instruction. 
  • Promote academic integrity and enforce course policies and guidelines. 
  • Utilize appropriate online learning platforms, communication tools, and digital resources to deliver course content effectively. 
  • Maintain an organized course schedule and be available to students for support and clarification through online communication channels. 
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of online learners and create an inclusive and supportive online learning environment.
Expected Salary:

Semester Pay: $5,000

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or related discipline with significant years of professional experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise and professional experience relevant to the course content for DIG3873, Game System Development I.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead live digital demonstrations of game design, game development and production pipelines, while clearly articulating process and troubleshooting in real time.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software tools, including Unity Hub, Unity LTS Editor, GitHub, and Microsoft Visual Studio (or similar scripting editor).
  • Understanding and ability to author, edit, and troubleshoot C# and C++ scripts.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey complex concepts and provide constructive feedback to students. 
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Excellent organizational skills to develop and deliver course content within the designated timeframe. 
Preferred:
  • Master's Degree or higher in a relevant field or related discipline. 
  • Experience teaching or instructing in an online or asynchronous setting. 
  • Proficiency in using online learning management systems (LMS), multimedia software, and digital tools relevant to course content. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success and engagement. 
  • Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate student needs and maintain regular online presence. 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and provide timely feedback and support to students. 
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies, including generative AI tools, and awareness of ongoing discussions surrounding their impact on digital game development.
  • Evidence of success in promoting an environment that advances pluralism, curiosity, viewpoint diversity, open discourse, and the well-being of all.
