The Department of Clinical and Health Psychology (CHP) within the College of Public Health and Health Professions (PHHP) at the University of Florida invites applications for a non-tenure track, clinical faculty position specializing in Neuropsychology and General Mental Health. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month position at the Clinical Assistant Professor rank. The Department has a mentoring program designed to assist junior faculty in their professional identity and development.
The primary responsibilities for this position include clinical service, supervision, instruction, and administrative leadership, with a focus on neuropsychological assessment and student mental health services.
Clinical Responsibilities: The faculty member’s primary clinical assignment will be within the Neuropsychology Assessment Service, housed in the UF Psychology Specialties Clinic. Clinical duties include a strong focus on neuropsychological assessment, and a limited number of outpatient psychotherapy services, dependent on departmental clinical needs. This position includes clinical supervision of predoctoral psychology interns and graduate students.
Teaching Responsibilities: The position is designed to teach one course per semester within the graduate curriculum. Teaching assignments may include courses such as Advanced Psychotherapy and Introduction to Psychotherapy. Depending on departmental needs, the role may also include instruction at the undergraduate level (e.g., Introduction to Clinical Psychology).
Administrative Responsibilities: This position is expected to oversee the UPTurn Wellness Program which provides general psychology services to PHHP undergraduate and graduate students. Responsibilities include supervision of graduate student clinicians, clinic oversight, and outreach and marketing to the PHHP student body.
The Department: CHP manages a unique, freestanding academic program in clinical psychology, comprising 30 core faculty members, 60 doctoral students, and two APA-accredited programs: a PhD program and a clinical internship. The Department has a 50-year legacy of excellence in clinical psychology training, offering APA-accredited doctoral and internship programs, along with advanced specialty-specific education in three specialty concentrations: Clinical Child/Pediatric Psychology, Clinical Health Psychology, and Neuropsychology. Faculty members routinely provide clinical supervision to interns and graduate students through rotations in faculty-led clinical practices. The doctoral program has been ranked in the 93rd percentile by the National Research Council’s data-based ranking system.
The Institution: UF is ranked as a top ten U.S. public university and is a comprehensive Research I institution that includes a wide range of academic departments and programs. The College of Public Health and Health Professions is part of the University’s Health Science Center. The UF Health Science Center is the country’s only academic health center with six health related colleges located on a single, contiguous campus. They include the colleges of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health and Health Professions, and Veterinary Medicine. The Health Science Center generates more than half of UF’s total research awards. The UF Health Science Center is closely affiliated with UF Health, part of the University of Florida Health System. Within the healthcare system are an 850-bed teaching hospital, an 81-bed psychiatric hospital, a 60-bed inpatient rehabilitation facility, and numerous outpatient and specialty clinics including the Psychology Specialties Clinic run by the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology.
