Job Description:

Database Development, Management and Administration

  • With guidance of senior staff, work to develop and optimize database objects to meet user requirements. Works in conjunction with server admin team members to install, configure, upgrade, and maintain the performance of database servers and their related application servers.
  • Defines users and enables data distribution to the right user, in appropriate format and in a timely manner.  Implements, and follows policies, procedures, and standards to ensure the integrity and availability of systems.
  • Assists with designing, implementing, and managing maintenance plans for backups, database updates, etc. per industry best practices.
  • Creates automations for repeating database tasks and monitors scheduled job execution.
  • Troubleshoots any errors that occur and monitors job performance.

Integration Development and Support

  • Designs and, with guidance from senior staff, implements required integrations between databases.
  • Monitors integrations to ensure compliance with business processes and updates integrations as necessary when requirements or systems are updated.

Reporting and Data Integrity

  • Designs, creates, and manages database reports, visualizations, and dashboards.
  • Responsible for development & documentation of queries & routines to extract management information.
  • Develops, documents & maintains standard system reports to ensure correct data relationships are represented. Assists users with creation of ad-hoc reports. 
  • Works with senior staff members to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity.
  • Facilitates real time and/or batch updating of data; testing and correcting data for inconsistencies, redundancies, and other undesirable states; analyzing data anomalies and correcting problems to ensure optimal performance and integrity of systems.

Maintenance, Support and Documentation

  • Provides necessary backup on-call and support coverage with little assistance in resolving problems.
  • Troubleshoots applications and maintains systems. Works with system admins and other senior staff members to ensure optimal performance & system integrity. 
  • Provides system support documentation for future issue resolution. 
  • May consult with software vendors regarding system functionality, enhancement requests, issues and planning for upgrades and future releases.
  • Tracks issues, work performed, and outcomes in ticketing system. Creates and maintains internal documentation on processes, common issues, resolutions, etc.

THIS POSITION REQUIRES A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK (FDLE & FBI) WITH FINGERPRINTING.

Class E State of Florida driver license (required)

Must maintain active CJIS Security Awareness certification

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Normal work schedule: Monday through Friday, 08:00 am to 05:00 pm
  • Flexibility to adjust work schedule is required to meet department demand of occasional evening or weekend work (including emergency situations) to ensure business operations are functioning optimally during extended hours.  Emergency situations may include computer or server failures, application issues, or other IT-related problems.
  • This position is an after-hours on-call position.
  • This position is considered essential personnel in the event of an emergency campus closure.
Expected Salary:

$70,000.00 to $75,000.00 Annually

Required Qualifications:

Associate's degree and two years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree and experience working with databases, integrations, and enterprise applications.

Knowledge and experience with the following:

  • Relational database design and development (PL/SQL, etc)
  • Relational and dimensional data modeling
  • Database management/developer tools, (SSMS, SQL Developer, etc)
  • Database migration and data integration/ETL tools, such as SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • Programming languages such as PHP, Python, Powershell, C#, Javascript, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience using project/ticket management systems
  • Knowledge and experience using version control (Git, SVN, etc)
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated planning and organization skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
