Job Description:

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible pediatrician for a non-tenure accruing faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor in the Division of General Pediatrics.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to join a nationally recognized academic medical center and contribute to the division’s missions of clinical excellence, teaching, research, and service. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive pediatric primary care while participating in the education of future healthcare professionals and pursuing scholarly activities aligned with their interests.

Position Responsibilities

Clinical Care

  • Provide high-quality outpatient pediatric primary care services within the General Pediatrics Primary Care clinics.
  • Participate in patient care activities at UF Health/Shands-affiliated clinical sites, including after-hours pediatric services as needed.
  • Deliver evidence-based, family-centered care to infants, children, adolescents, and young adults.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to promote optimal health outcomes for pediatric patients.

Teaching and Academic Activities

  • Teach and mentor medical students, pediatric residents, physician assistant students, and other health professions learners.
  • Participate in educational conferences, curriculum development, and other academic activities within the Department of Pediatrics.
  • Contribute to the department’s commitment to excellence in medical education.

Research and Scholarly Activity

  • The position includes a dedicated research assignment, with opportunities to develop and participate in clinical, translational, quality improvement, health services, community-based, or educational research initiatives.
  • Faculty will be expected to engage in scholarly activities that contribute to the academic mission of the division and department.
  • Candidates with a demonstrated interest in research and prior research experience are strongly preferred.

UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital represents the only quaternary-care academic pediatric center in North Florida. The children’s hospital has 208 beds, including fully equipped pediatric and neonatal intensive care units. UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital is part of the Children's Miracle Network's alliance of premier hospitals for children.

The Department of Pediatrics is committed to fostering innovation and advancing discovery in the biomedical and psychosocial aspects of child health and human development, educating and training pediatric scientists, and directly translating basic scientific discoveries into new patient-oriented therapies. In the most recent fiscal year, the department was home to over $30.5M in sponsored research.

UF Health faculty work in multidisciplinary teams with researchers in the five other Health Science Center colleges, as well as those from across the University. The focus of team efforts often originates from the Centers and Institutes, including the Evelyn F. and William L.
