Our team is committed to improving health outcomes, advancing interprofessional collaboration, and providing exceptional care to individuals and families across the lifespan.
The Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP), Psychiatric Mental Health provides comprehensive, evidence-based behavioral health and psychiatric services at Archer Family Health Care (AFHC), a nurse-led primary care practice operated by the University of Florida College of Nursing. As an integral member of an interprofessional healthcare team, the ARNP delivers high-quality mental health care to patients across the lifespan, with a focus on improving access to behavioral health services within a rural and underserved community.

Working within an integrated primary care model, the ARNP collaborates closely with primary care providers, nurses, social workers, care coordinators, and other healthcare professionals to address the behavioral, emotional, social, and physical health needs of patients. The position serves as a key behavioral health resource for patients, families, and healthcare teams, promoting early identification, intervention, and treatment of mental health conditions while reducing barriers to care.

Communicate test results and treatment recommendations to patients and families in a clear and compassionate manner. Develop, implement, and manage evidence-based treatment plans for patients with acute and chronic behavioral health conditions across the lifespan. Provide psychotherapy and counseling interventions, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) as appropriate, prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitor treatment effectiveness, and modify care plans based on patient outcomes and clinical response. Collaborate with primary care providers and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.

Clinical Education and Student Precepting
Serve as a clinical educator and preceptor for graduate nursing students by providing mentorship, clinical supervision, instruction, and evaluation in behavioral health assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient management. Facilitate the integration of evidence-based practice, clinical reasoning, and professional development while supporting the educational mission of the College of Nursing.

Interprofessional Collaboration and Quality Improvement
