| The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering (HWCOE) at the University of Florida is seeking a strategic, relationship-oriented professional with Sarasota region industry and/or basic understanding of engineering principles in a technical environment to support the growth of the regional engineering and technology talent pipeline through UFIS (UF Innovation Station in Sarasota County).
This position will build and strengthen partnerships between HWCOE and regional employers by connecting industry needs with University resources, including students, faculty, research initiatives, laboratories, capstone projects, workforce development programs, and technology licensing. The role will develop outreach strategies based on regional market trends, employer hiring needs, and workforce demands, while identifying opportunities for sustainable partnerships with engineering firms, manufacturers, healthcare systems, technology companies, aerospace organizations, transportation companies, and government agencies.
Key responsibilities include prospecting and developing new industry partnerships, maintaining existing relationships, representing UF and UFIS at regional networking events, and facilitating meaningful connections among employers, faculty, students, and academic leadership. The position will also use data and program metrics to evaluate impact and identify opportunities for growth, tracking outcomes such as employer engagement, internships, direct placements, sponsored projects, and regional workforce development.
This is an opportunity to serve as a key bridge between the University of Florida and the Sarasota-area business community, helping expand industry partnerships, strengthen engineering workforce development, and create meaningful opportunities for students and regional employers. |
