The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine is seeking a physician leader to serve as Medical Director at the UF Health Ocala Neighborhood Hospital – Emergency Department. This role combines clinical practice with department leadership, guiding a growing team of Emergency Medicine physicians as they deliver the full scope of emergency care under a novel, community-focused care model.
As Medical Director, you'll set the clinical and cultural tone for the department while building a collaborative team, ensuring quality and consistency of care, and serving as the primary liaison between the emergency department and hospital leadership.
The UF Department of Emergency Medicine proudly maintains an affiliation with UF Health Shands Hospital, a distinguished 1,162-bed teaching facility renowned for its Level 1 trauma center and cutting-edge burn center. As the primary referral center for North Central Florida, our institution stands as a beacon of excellence in healthcare. This affiliation underscores our commitment to top-tier medical care and innovation.
Key Details:
- Estimated fewer than 20,000 visits per year
- Single attending physician coverage with additional APP mid-shift coverage
- Facilitated transfer protocols for patients requiring a higher level of care
- Affiliation with an academic emergency department and the UF College of Medicine
What You'll Lead:
- Oversee day-to-day clinical operations and quality of care within the department
- Build and sustain a collaborative, high-performing team of physicians and clinical support staff
- Address physician performance and behavioral concerns directly and constructively
- Serve as a key liaison with hospital administration and department leadership
- Guide the department through growth and operational transitions as the Microhospital scales
- Champion a culture of teamwork, accountability, and excellence in patient care
