The UF College of Pharmacy’s Office of Experiential Programs provides high-quality clinical learning experiences to develop skilled and trustworthy Pharmacists ready to serve their patients upon graduation. The Assistant Director of Experiential Programs plays a critical role through ensuring the daily operations of the Office of Experiential Programs (OEP) provide an exceptional administrative foundation that supports the work of clinical educators developing future pharmacists. The responsibilities include but are not limited to the supervision of staff, coordination of daily office functions, and working in collaboration with the Associate Director and the Assistant Dean for Clinical Education on all OEP related objectives to ensure efficient and effective programming is in place to support experiential education for PharmD students.
Program Management: The Assistant Director is responsible for the execution of daily operations to carry out the goals of the Office of Experiential Programs. The Assistant Director’s primary responsibility is the supervision and management of the OEP staff. This includes oversight and training of the staff in the areas of compliance, rotation scheduling, affiliation agreements, and fiscal matters. The Assistant Director functions as a subject matter expert in databases utilized by the office. The Assistant Director ensures up-to-date policies and procedures for office operations. The incumbent is responsible for operationalizing the approved Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPEs) and Advance Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs) curriculum by providing updates to materials for students, coordinating student schedules, and facilitating student and site evaluations in conjunction with course coordinators. The Assistant Director of OEP is also responsible for executing the approved budget as directed by the Assistant Dean for Clinical Education.
Program Advancement: The Assistant Director is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of program quality improvements in partnership with the Assistant Dean for Clinical Education. The incumbent will work closely with the Regional Coordinators (RCs), Associate Director and the Assistant Dean for Clinical Education to facilitate recruitment and retention of high-quality preceptors and experiential sites. Overall, the Assistant Director plays a key role in fostering a culture of continuous improvement among OEP staff, working closely with program leadership to implement procedural efficiencies and achieve intended program outcomes.
Program Ambassador: In conjunction with OEP leadership, the Assistant Director will serve as an ambassador for the College of Pharmacy Office of Experiential Programs. The incumbent will represent the OEP to external stakeholders when necessary.
Alignment of Program Operations to Accreditation Standards: With guidance from the Assistant Dean for Clinical Education, the Assistant Director ensures that program operations are consistent with accreditation standards. The Assistant Director will work closely with and report regularly to the Assistant Dean for Clinical Education on operations of the office and execution of the IPPE and APPE curriculum.
Flexibility and adaptability to perform other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the OEP.
