Job Description:

University of Florida, College of Dentistry is searching for OPS Patient Transporters. At UF College of Dentistry, patient transport roles involve providing safe, timely, and courteous transportation of patients throughout the facility, in coordination with clinical staff.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Patient Transport: Safely and efficiently move sedated patients between clinics and discharge points using wheelchairs.
  • Assistance & Safety: Assist sedated patients in and out of mobility devices using proper body mechanics; confirm patient identity before transport. 
  • Equipment Handling: Transport; clean and maintain wheelchairs; report needed repairs 
  • Coordination: Communicate with clinical staff for all transfers
  • Patient Care Support: Provide basic comfort measures and ensure positive patient experience 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire. 

This role requires you to understand proper body mechanics, have an ability to follow oral/written instructions, recognize medical emergencies, and interact respectfully with sedated patients.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CNA certification
  • Past experience transporting patients in a medical setting. 

Work Environment

  • Shifts: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 9:30am – 3:00pm; Wednesday and Friday 9:30am – 12:00pm
  • Physical Demands: May require lifting and moving patients; adherence to safety protocols is essential
