| Job Description: |
The Aria Eshraghi Laboratory in the Department of Infectious Diseases and Immunology at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a highly motivated Research Technician to join a growing research program investigating bacterial pathogenesis, host-pathogen interactions, antimicrobial discovery, and vaccine development. Current projects examine the molecular mechanisms governing Francisella pathogenesis, respiratory metabolism, bacterial adaptation to arthropod vectors, and the genetic basis of bacterial host adaptation and vector colonization.
The successful candidate will perform molecular biology, microbiology, and cell biology experiments; conduct bacterial genetic screens; characterize mutant phenotypes; and perform mammalian and arthropod cell culture and vector-infection studies. Additional responsibilities include analyzing experimental data, contributing to manuscript and grant preparation, maintaining research records, preparing reagents, assisting with laboratory organization and equipment maintenance, and supporting the training of junior laboratory members. The position is well suited for a detail-oriented and intellectually curious candidate with experience in microbiology, bacterial culture, molecular cloning, PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, gel electrophoresis, cell culture, infectious disease, immunology, host-pathogen interactions, or vector biology. The laboratory provides opportunities to develop skills in experimental design, data analysis, scientific writing, grant development, and collaborative research.
