The University of Florida School of Theatre and Dance seeks a dance professional to teach undergraduate courses in dance. The teaching focused position in a leading public research institution calls for teaching and service to be priorities for the employee. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in contemporary ballet practices, and somatics, and contemporary dance and/or another area of dance practice, with a pedagogical practice that is evolving codified techniques. The ability to teach ballet as foundational training to support a broad range of dance practices will be considered an asset, complementing the candidate’s expertise in somatics and another area of dance practice. We especially welcome candidates whose teaching explicitly integrates somatic inquiry within movement practices, situating embodied knowledge within cultural, historical, and interdisciplinary contexts.
